At more than 15 gigabytes of storage, Pastor Mike Weaver’s personal digital library is larger than all 21 branches of the Nashville Public Library.
Each week, Weaver, pastor of Woodland Baptist Church in Pontotoc, Miss., estimates he spends between 30-40 hours using his Bible study software.
Weaver is considered to be a Bible study software “super user.”
He has been a “beta tester” for several Bible study software tools on the market today, testing their latest products before they are made available to the public.
“I have them all,” he said. “I use them all. But WORDsearch really sold me.”
Like most pastors, Weaver travels regularly to visit, counsel and pray with church members. During his downtime he reads, reflects and study the Word, preparing sermons and lessons.
Until recently, his WORDsearch Bible study content stayed at home, stored on multiple PCs and memory devices.
Now with his new WORDsearch iPad application, Weaver can take his vast digital library with him when he travels to visit church members.
WORDsearch‘s parent company, Lifeway Christian Resources, released the free WORDsearchiPad app Monday, Jan. 30.
“WORDsearch customers have been anticipating this app for a long time,” said Randy Beck, WORDsearch president. “They will be able to view, read and study the same content on their desktops, laptops and iPads.”
“This is it. Because I’m constantly traveling — on the road and in airports, I’ve longed for a tool or an app that would allow me to use my extensive WORDsearch library on my iPad,” said Michael Catt, pastor of Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Ga.
“I no longer have to carry my laptop or a stack of books,” Catt said. “I now have thousands of resources at my fingertips on my iPad.”
According to Beck, WORDsearch users like Catt will be able to download and access most of the Bibles, commentaries and book titles in their WORDsearch libraries from their iPad’s memory, while other titles will be available via an Internet connection.
New WORDsearch iPad app users will have access to 130 free books and Bibles.
“WORDsearch customers have made big investments in our Bible study software and content,” said Beck. “We want to meet their Bible study needs by providing the latest, most relevant Bible study platforms for on-the-go lifestyles.”
According to “super-user” Weaver, “WORDsearch is way ahead of the game. The program works smoothly, is easy to use and has the strongest material out there for anyone teaching Sunday school, preaching or for their devotional life.”
“The release of this iPad app untethers our users and puts the leading Bible study software firmly in the mobile market,” said Beck.
