I am encouraged to see World Vision has reversed course on its policy of hiring employees in same-sex marriages.
I was grieved to hear some at World Vision considered a change to the definition of marriage as a simple disagreement among denominations. It is not.
The fact is that there has been a consensus on marriage among Christians for 2,000 years, yet this moment has revealed fractures on the issue–and they are not encouraging, particularly when we see them coming from self-identified evangelical Christians.
Lifeway stands with those who hold to biblical marriage, and our publishing and relationships will always reflect that eternal truth. Furthermore, I believe castigating those who stand for the Bible’s teaching on marriage is not helpful and shows a lack of biblical discernment.
I encourage Christians to care for the least of these, partner with organizations that will do so in biblically faithful ways, and stand for truth at the same time.
