Richard Blackaby and sons expand ‘Experiencing God’ legacy with new Bible study on spiritual formation

‘Experiencing God in Everyday Life’ releases June 1

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. — For decades, Henry Blackaby’s “Experiencing God” has transformed the way people live in relationship with God. Now, Blackaby’s oldest son Richard and grandsons Mike and Daniel have joined together to create a new study focusing on seeking God in the day-to-day.

“Experiencing God in Everyday Life: A Journey Toward Spiritual Maturity” releases June 1, 2026, from Lifeway Christian Resources. The eight-week study, designed for individual or group use, builds on the foundation established by Henry Blackaby’s bestseller “Experiencing God,” while shifting the focus toward spiritual formation in ordinary, day-to-day life.

The authors were deeply influenced by the ministry of Henry Blackaby within the church and his own family.

“It is an incredible privilege and honor to continue to build upon the legacy of my father and ‘Experiencing God,’” said Richard. “Being able to work on this study with my sons and see the Lord’s faithfulness throughout its creation has been a true blessing. My prayer is that this study will have an impact on believers for generations to come, just as my father’s work has continued to do so to this day.”

The study emerged from a need the authors observed among Christians who completed “Experiencing God.” While the resource shaped believers’ understanding of encountering God through event-driven faith experiences, it did not address cultivating faithfulness in the mundane.

“Many devotionals focus on the big mountaintop moments of faith, but this study meets people in the valleys,” said Mike Blackaby. “Spiritual maturity doesn’t occur from just a single moment. You can build it through small, consistent steps taken every day.”

In a world constantly seeking what is new, “Experiencing God in Everyday Life” invites individuals to nurture and mature their relationship with Jesus in mundane living through short-term and long-term spiritual habits and rhythms. The short-term habits, such as gratitude, silence and giving, as well as long-term habits like fasting and retreating, work together to help develop lasting spiritual growth.

“‘Experiencing God in Everyday Life’ is designed for fostering genuine spiritual health,” said Daniel Blackaby. “It’s crucial for believers to develop fruit-bearing habits that sustain their walk with God. The eight central truths throughout this study are centered around this exact kind of long-lasting spiritual growth.”

“Experiencing God in Everyday Life” is available from Lifeway Christian Resources on June 1, 2026. For more information, visit lifeway.com.
